German milk continues to be unaffected by dioxin
17/01/2011
Press coverage is partially giving rise to the impression that events in Germany have led to increased dioxin levels in milk as well. The German Dairy Association (MIV) expressly indicates that such statements currently have no basis in fact.
Some dairies have introduced testing measures purely as a precaution. According to the German agency for risk evaluation (BfR), some Federal states have tested samples of meat and eggs. In the interests of consumer safety, the BfR has underlined that the dioxin levels ascertained do not currently pose any risk to human health.
In accordance with our information, experts and government ministries do not expect dioxin limits for milk to be exceeded. Milk and dairy products continue to remain unaffected.
The companies in the German Dairy Association (MIV) take their responsibility to provide high-quality foodstuffs very seriously in order to continue providing consumers with high-quality milk and dairy products. The quality of these products is assured with careful testing and quality checks.
